Google Playstore Analysis

According to the data, only 8.4% of apps offer in-app purchases, while a substantial 91.6% - do not. This indicates that while in-app purchases (IAP) are a significant revenue strategy for certain apps, the majority of apps on the Play Store are either entirely free or rely on other forms of monetization, such as advertisements or one-time payments.

Despite the smaller proportion of apps that include in-app purchases, this model has proven to be highly lucrative for developers who implement it effectively. Apps that offer IAPs can generate ongoing revenue by encouraging users to make microtransactions or purchase subscription services.

On the other hand, the 91.6% of apps without IAPs reflects a large segment of apps that may focus on ad-supported models, free content offerings, or paid apps where users pay once to access the full functionality without additional charges.

In summary, while only a minority of apps use in-app purchases as a monetization strategy, this method has significant potential to generate recurring revenue, particularly in app categories where extended user engagement and premium content are integral to the experience. The high percentage of apps without IAPs, however, suggests that many developers are still relying on simpler monetization models such as ads or upfront payments.
